Kidz Choir

Come and join the Aldersgate Kidz Choir!

Who should come?
Any interested child from kindergarten through 5th grade who likes to sing, dance, and would like to be a star! (Membership at Aldersgate not required)

When do we meet?
We meet every Wednesday evening from 6:45 – 7:30 p.m. during the school year.

What’s special about Kidz Choir?
We do TWO musicals every year - one in December and one in May!!  We also sign in church a couple of times each semester. We have a lot of fun!!!!!

What do we do at choir practice?
We work on the music, choreography, and staging for our upcoming musical. The musicals are based on Bible stories and Christian principals. At the end of each rehearsal we sing and sign our prayer song and then the children take turns leading a prayer.

What happens after choir practice?
The choir parents take turns bringing snacks and a drink at 7:20 and then supervise the children until their parents pick them up at 7:30.

How do parents know what’s going on each week?
The director, Linda Schafer, sends an e-mail News and Notes each week prior to the Wednesday evening rehearsal letting the children and the parents know what we plan to do that Wednesday and what we plan to work on for the following Wednesday.

Who are the Kidz Choir staff?
Linda Schafer is the director and is also the Music Director for Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She has directed more than 25 musicals in the past 15 years at Aldersgate. Julie Clopper Smith is our phenomenal choreographer including sign language, dance and movement. Lynette Zimmer is our accompanist. A past Lincoln Public Schools music instructor and current individual piano and voice teacher, Lynette brings a wealth of experience to our choir.
