Want a change of pace? How about reading the book REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES by Shelby Van Pelt where one of the narrators is a very intelligent octopus? Yes, octopus. This octopus will cause you to analyze how some of the things we humans do might look to an outsider. The novel about a lonely 70-year-old cleaning lady who befriends an octopus in the aquarium where she works is a charming, warmhearted read. Both Aldersgate book clubs will be discussing it. Wednesday, August 2, 1:30 pm on zoom and Tuesday, August 15 at 7 pm at Aldersgate.
September’s book is FOUR TREASURES OF THE SKY by Jenny Zhang
Historical fiction that lays bare the human tragedy behind the infamous Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. Daiyu is brought to America against her will and forced to hide who she is. Book club discussion dates: Sept. 6 zoom 1:30 pm and Sept. 19 7 pm
